| Has Xanga become passe? Where did everybody go? | | |
| It's been awhile...I really should update... The office is quiet and empty. I now have Prince Caspian (my betta fish) to keep me company, but the conversation is a bit one-sided. You know you've really and truly lost it, when you get excited over a fish learning to swim through the window of the castle in the fish bowl. Mike thinks it's funny when he catches me watching my fish (or better yet, talking to it...). Alas... The house needs a good cleaning...but, I lack motivation to do so. It's now fall...and cold today... Struggling with all kinds of stuff that shouldn't cause me to lose sleep at night, but does. Issues at work, issues at church, issues on several fronts. The one for-sure thing I cling to -- God is in control. He knows me and He knows His plans for me. He will never leave me. I hold fast to those promises! Pray for us -- and especially that things can turn around at camp. There are ongoing financial issues which challenge us. Pray now -- for the staff of 2009, and for the campers in this next year. As always, it's MY goal to see all beds filled. Pray now that we are in line with GOD'S goals for G-O. God bless. Walk with Jesus -- it's the only true place to be! | | |
| Bill and I are taking a vacation! (I know...it's about time!). We're going with Bill's folks, and his next two brothers (and wives) to the beach house (owned by son #2) in the outer banks of North Carolina. We'll be gone for a week. It's kind of a combination Bill's birthday bash (he turned 50 this summer), and Mom's birthday (we're leaving on her birthday!). Pray for nice weather. The beach house is a block off the beach, has 3-stories (with a wrap-around deck on the top level -- ocean view!), has both a pool and a hot tub, and this time of year -- lots of P & Q -- which I need A LOT of right now! Pray that we'll come back rested and refreshed and ready to meet the fall season head on. Walk with Jesus! | | |
| Is there really anybody out there who takes seriously the commands and demands of Jesus... who really "walks the talk" every day in every way? I know that I fall short...but, lately, I'm bombarded with those who would twist Scripture to make it "work" for them, who blatantly continue to walk around in various sinful lifestyle choices, who no longer (or never) believe that God is who He says He is and that in Him there is no lie...and on and on... Is there nobody truly living for the Lord these days? Or, has our society with their "me" mentality warped even those who call themselves Christians? Have we so easily been coerced and enticed by the world? I pray it isn't so, for on the last day...there will be sheep and there will be goats...and one group of people won't see heaven, even though they "think" they've lived a "Christian" life. Please, walk with Jesus today. I'm seeking to. Proverbs 2: 1-5 "My son, IF you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight (discernment) and raise your voice for understanding (wisdom), if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, THEN you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God." | | |
| Camp is going well. We're in the middle of week 4. Mid-summer Festival is fast approaching, and before you know it, the summer will be over! I'm still entering registrations into the computer! Whew! We're pretty much filled up this week. Thankfully, the rain seems to have gone away and we've had a number of sunny, beautiful days. Our first two weeks were pretty much a wash. But, the kids still had a great time. We did lose our speed boat motor on Monday, in a blaze of glory. So, our waterfront program is now severely compromised (no more tubing or waterskiing until we can replace the motor!). If you know of anyone who might have a good, used 65-hp outboard motor they might be willing to donate (or someone who loves water sports and camp, and might be willing to purchase a new motor for us)...put them in touch with us here at Grotonwood (978-448-5763).
